What?

"What"

was the very first word I ever said.

I think anybody would be forgiven,

when first encountering these mummified, almost black spheres,

if the first word that came to mind was

"What"?

Not the most attractive things to look at.

And who would ever think they were edible?

What are they?

Persian dried lemons

They have a dry, pungent, piquant, vaguely lemony smell.

They add an incredible depth without the overall sourness of a regular lemon.

You might say "What".

I say "Yum"!
